A short walk leads us to the Hospice du Grand-Saint-Bernard, on Swiss territory, where we spend an evening in the spirit of pilgrimage, admiring the magnificent alpine scenery and visiting the fascinating treasury museum.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Day 2 \u2013 From the Great St. Bernard Pass to Saint-Rh\u00e9my-en-Bosses<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span lang=\"it\">We follow the Via Francigena for a short stretch before continuing along a panoramic mid-slope route to the tunnel fortifications of Plan Puitz, built during World War I. A comfortable military road then leads us to Saint-Rh\u00e9my-en-Bosses, the first village beyond the pass. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><em><span lang=\"it\">Technical Information: 11.6 km, +170 m \/ -1,020 m<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Day 3 \u2013 From Saint-Rh\u00e9my-en-Bosses to Baravex Mountain Hut<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span lang=\"it\">The journey continues along the mountainside, following the markings of the Tour des Combins on easy gravel tracks beside the Eternod and Menouve ru. A well-equipped mountain hut welcomes us for the night among the high alpine pastures of the municipality of Allein, with spectacular views of Mount Emilius and La Grivola.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><em><span lang=\"it\">Technical Information: 16.3 km, +600 m \/ -300 m<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Day 4 \u2013 From Baravex Mountain Hut to Ollomont<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span lang=\"it\">The Ru de By accompanies us throughout the day. Sometimes flowing in the open and at other times underground, it descends from the By basin. From Fen\u00eatre Durant, where the Tour des Combins continues, and which we will not reach, Luigi Einaudi found refuge in Switzerland while escaping the Fascist regime. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><em><span lang=\"it\">Technical Information: 18.2 km, +330 m \/ -865 m<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Day 5 \u2013 From Ollomont: Circular Hike Along the Ru du Mont<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span lang=\"it\">We remain at a lower elevation, walking through forest trails along the ru. Along the route lies the entrance to the Saint-Jean mining gallery. At the end of the ru, a real tunnel awaits us, so a headlamp is essential.
